Born in Chicago, December 30, 1938. Ordained a priest May 23, 1964. Named Titular Bishop of Walla Walla, Washington and Auxiliary Bishop of Jolliet, Illinois; consecrated March 19, 2002. Resigned June 5, 2003. Died September 11, 2003.

Born in Joliet, Illinois, August 14, 1927. Ordained a priest May 1, 1954. Named Auxiliary Bishop of Joliet, Illinois; consecrated June 26, 1985. Retired in 2002. Died May 28, 2009.
 

Born in Cicero, Illinois, January 25, 1916. Ordained a priest May 3, 1941. Named Auxiliary Bishop of Joliet, Illinois, and Titular Bishop of Vanariona; consecrated April 3, 1968. Resigned May 7, 1991. Died August 16, 1991.

Born in Mankato, Minnesota, September 28, 1930. Ordained a priest May 3, 1956. Named Auxiliary Bishop of Joliet, Illinois, and Titular Bishop of Surista in Mauritania; consecrated September 30, 1981. Appointed seventh Bishop of Springfield, Illinois; installed on January 18, 1984. Resigned October 19, 1999, amidst allegations of abuse against a minor, as well as accusations that he concealed similar allegations against other clergy in the Diocese of Springfield. Bishop Ryan is on the Diocese of Joliet list of clergy with substantiated allegations of sexual abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult. Died December 31, 2015.

Appointed Ninth Bishop of the Diocese of Des Moines, Iowa; installed May 29, 2008. Appointed Apostolic Administrator for the Diocese of Joliet, Illinois, following Bishop Conlon’s medical leave; installed December 27, 2019. Appointed Apostolic Administrator for the Diocese of Joliet again until the installation of Bishop Ronald A. Hicks on September 29, 2020.
